Two Moulton men, A and M grads, received diplomas at the Texas A and M College commencement Friday night. Willie Pundt earned a B S degree and Victor J. Beran an I E degree. The sermon was by Dr. George S. Benson of Hardin College and the commencement address by Dr. W R White of Baylor University. The 915 graduates marked the largest class in school history with John W. Goodwin of Lubbock attending from the first class of 1876.
The Clerkettes schedule includes Flatonia at Moulton June 24 and Yoakum at Moulton July 1 with Clerkettes versus Red Sox July 8. The Red Sox schedule lists Cuero at Moulton June 10 Gonzales at Gonzales June 18 Yoakum at Yoakum June 24 Flatonia at Flatonia July 1 and Red Sox versus Clerkettes July 8. Managers are Edgar Keil for the Clerkettes and Kenwood Kolar for the Red Sox.
The Moulton Redsox girls softball team defeated Flatonia 35 to 7 last Thursday night at Flatonia. The high scoring game showcased strong pitching and offense from Moulton throughout the contest.

The Summer Homemaking Class met at 2:30 PM at the Homemaking cottage and elected officers: President Charlene Biehanko, Vice President Arlene Biehunko, Secretary Ja Nell Pietsch, and Reporter Arminta Novosad. Twenty one girls attended and gave reports. Punch was served after the meeting. The next meeting is Saturday June 12 at 2:00 PM at the cottage.
Funeral services for Pfc. Clifford A. Baur were held June 11 at 2:00 P M at St. James American Lutheran Church Ganado Texas with Rev M S Frueh. Interment followed in Ganado Cemetery by the Hillard Yoas American Legion Post. Baur born April 8 1918 in Moulton died in New Guinea March 12 1944 survived by parents Mr and Mrs A Baur of Lolita and brother Royce Baur of Lolita.
Mr and Mrs Wesley Knape and son Freddie have returned to Jackson Mississippi after a two weeks visit with relatives here. Mr and Mrs O F Knape accompanied them to Houston where they boarded a train Monday morning.
The Moulton Clerkettes defeated the Hallettsville Girls 27 to 3 in Hallettsville to claim their second league win of the season. The game was played at Hallettsville.
The E E Darilek family travels to San Marcos where he will attend the summer session of Southwest Texas Teachers College.
Daily Vacation Bible School begins Monday June 14 at 8 30 am at the Moulton Lutheran Church with the Beautiful Savior lessons. Nursery through Intermediate departments taught by listed volunteers run mornings Monday through Friday for two weeks. A closing picnic for all will be held Sunday June 27 with details to come.
Eight Lavaca County 4-H boys received pigs on Saturday May 29 with Jerome Bucknoch of Wysehrad earning the boar pig. Essays on The Value of Hogs on My Farm as a Source of Cash Income counted for 40 percent, while judging for eating ability counted 60 percent. The boar pig was bred by Jeorma Harbich of Yoakum who donated a high quality animal to the club.
The Moulton Lions Club softball team defeated the Sodality unit Tuesday night by 6 to 3 as both teams battled for bragging rights. Lions posted runs in multiple innings while Sodality fought back, but fell short.
Twenty seven Lions answered roll call at Story's Cafe last week Tuesday. Guests included Jacobson Kuntz and Bell. The club voted to donate 10 to the polio fund drive. Elo C Fehrenkamp chairs the local drive. Basil Bell spoke on the pending passenger train case before the state railroad commission. The railroad threatens to discontinue service between Waco and Yoakum amid ongoing hearings and no decision yet.

Otto William Joost aged 58 passed away at his Victoria home Wednesday at 8 30. He lived in Victoria County 33 years and was born in Lavaca County February 18 1890.
