In Gonzales on January 15 the small elephant Butch rested in his new home with Dailey Brothers Circus. The 3 foot high 200 pound calf arrived after a 51 day voyage from Myeshore India in a shipment that also included eight other baby elephants 30 monkeys three zebras and three pythons from Boston.

John Welff Sr. died Tuesday January 20 at 11:00 P.M. at the home of his daughter and son in law near Oak Grove. Funeral Thursday at 9:00 A.M. from the Kubicek home and Witting Catholic Church with burial in Praha Cemetery. Born May 10 1867 in Czechoslovakia he was 80 years 8 months 10 days. William Buelow died at his Nickel area home in Gonzales County on Tuesday January 20 at 9 30 P M after a lingering illness.
