The two story home of Christian Brom near Nickel burned Sunday morning about 7:00. The origin is undetermined. Upstairs furniture and kitchen utensils plus 250 cans of patches were lost. Brom was burned on neck and face. downstairs furniture was saved. Insurance valued the home at 1200. Community sympathy extended.
Yoakum Texas December 11 Mrs S A Mueller celebrates her 82nd birthday Sunday with a twin sister a brother past 80 and an 86 year old sister She was Miss Margaret Neeley daughter of Mr and Mrs H L Neeley born near Old Moulton Lavaca county Mrs Miller has 23 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

The city of Moulton adopts a beer control ordinance setting license fees for general and local distributors and retail dealers, bans beer sales within 300 feet of churches and schools, requires state licenses, and imposes a $100 maximum fine for violations. The measure, approved December 18, 1987, advances with an emergency ruling suspending the three-reading requirement.
Mrs. Frank Mikeska 56 mother of Mrs. W A Schodde of Moulton died last week and was buried Thursday in the Czech Brethren Cemetery west of Shiner. Rev. Josef Barton Granger and Rev. F J Kostohryz Temple officiated. Surviving husband eight children three brothers and two sisters and one grandchild are named. The Eagle extends sympathy to survivors.
At the Komensky P.T.A. meeting the Thanksgiving picnic and dance yielded a net of 343.44. The school thanks all volunteers and supporters for making the day a success.
Austin reports Judge Ralph W. Yarborough is expected to announce for attorney general soon. Lieutenant Governor Walter F. Woodul and House Speaker B Calvert had already declared their bids for the office.
W E James of Austin seeks the Democratic nomination for state superintendent of public instruction. He has worked as a public school teacher, county superintendent, rural aid supervisor, and first assistant in the state department of education.
The Evergreen School PTA held its December meeting with many new members joining. A Christmas tree program is planned for December 23 with Santa Claus and a turkey prize. County Superintendent McDonald attended and a lunch followed the meeting. The next meeting is set for February.

Mrs Kortwig wife of W C Kortwig of Route Two died recently in a suspected suicide. Funeral services were at Zion s Lutheran Church with Rev W Flachmeier officiating. Interment took place at Moulton Public Cemetery. She was 57 and survived by her husband two children and three grandchildren.

Mr and Mrs G Fisbeck and Mrs Anton Meyer spent Friday in Houston. They attended local events and returned home refreshed.
