At Bellville yards near Brenham Texas, a derailment and collision between an extra northbound and a Kansas City fast freight wrecked three locomotives and a box car. Fireman C B Edkins was killed and Engineer E B Stevens seriously injured as the crash involved 42 loaded cars. The accident disrupted rail operations as engin es and crews were removed. Separately, contract details for a Sam Houston bust and associated statues were filed in Austin, with completion deadlines in 1903. Beaumont reports oil shipments strained by car shortages and high demand, hindering supply despite high prices.
Corbin Kentucky December 10 Friends of Berry Howard the mountain feud leader tried to rescue him as he was being taken to Frankfort to face an indictment for complicity in the Goebel murder. Sheriff Broughton and deputies secured Howard and a guard of twenty five guarded the prisoner aboard a train to Frankfort while three Howard friends attempted to derail the engine at Pineville to free him. The engineer resumed control and the train proceeded to Frankfort. In Galveston Texas Dr John Grant reported sale of Citizens Electric Light and Power Company property in Houston. Highest bid from George C Hollister 240000 dollars was accepted under court decree dated March 19 1900.
A party of seven New Yorkers will depart from New York City to Vicksburg Mississippi to locate Civil War siege sites of the Ninth Army Corps. They aim to decide where New York will erect monuments commemorating the ganguinary experiences during the Vicksburg siege. Chief Deputy Sheriff C M Richard was assaulted by Sol Poydras and killed. the suspect was captured near Welsh and hanged after confessing. The Norwegian steamship Bretfond arrived in Alveston with 11 000 bunches of bananas and three passengers from Bluefields. Among them were Mr and Mrs C H Dye and Fred F Platt. Platt reports 1000 to 2000 ounces of Nicaragua gold are shipped weekly from Bluefields to New Orleans.
In Waco Judge Scott sentenced Anderson Norris to death for the murder of Mrs. Jessie French in Navarro County. The execution date was set for January 10. Norris, about 21, showed no remorse and asked to be sent back to Navarro County for the execution, which the law requires to occur there.
In McKinney Texas on December 10 eleven men jailed for gambling at Weston, Collin county, faced the justice court. A brawl followed with Deputy Sheriff Robertson knocked down and three officers beaten. Robertson fired at Fred Wilson, wounding him in the shoulder. Wilson was taken to a hotel. the crowd held the officers in the courtroom past noon. Sheriff Pafford and deputies dispersed the crowd and made several arrests. Wilson is expected to recover.
Miss Annie Kolbe eldest daughter of Frank Kolbe was found hanging in her father's barn in Cypress Texas early Sunday morning. An inquest was held and she was buried the next day in the family cemetery.

The leaded bones and clothing of J. D. Johnson, who vanished from his home five miles southeast of Grandview last May, were found in the woods near the M K T track. Identified by clothing and two missing jaw teeth, he was about 54. Authorities previously thought he dementia, and charges for assault are noted as pending. It is now believed he may have killed himself.
Managua December 10 report that Dr Fernando Sanchez Nicaraguan minister of affairs and William Jerry minister to Costa Rica signed an agreement granting the United States a perpetual right to a six mile wide strip of Nicaragua land including the proposed canal route extending along the coast and territory.
