Attorneys for Mrs Evelyn P Perry begin a Dallas will contest over Helen P Spencer estate valued at 15000 with forged probate claim alleged against W J Moroney administrator and the Spencer system of handwriting cited as a factor.
The United States Supreme Court delivered decisions in two insular cases. The Fourteen Diamond Rings suit held Philippine Islands were American territory when the rings entered the U S, exempt from duty. The Dooley case upheld duties on goods to Puerto Rico as a tax for locals, not export duty, with four justices dissenting. Dallas and Houston reports follow.
Paige Texas December 2. Cure Scarborough was accidentally shot while bird hunting when J McKeown dropped the hammer on his gun. The shot struck Scarborough on the right leg and left thigh but no major vessels or nerves were injured and he is recovering well.
Lake Clarls La December 2 A V Eastman of the N A L and T company reports unloading new elaborate machinery at Chloe for farmers canal use. With two pumps in place they expect to keep ample water even if one pump fails. The pump will raise capacity to 1000 per minute.
Surrogate Fitzgerald appoints William Halpin as appraiser on Mrs Isabella Huntington and Charles H Tweed request. Under inheritance tax law the Huntington estate is valued at about 70 million dollars for taxation purposes.
