A letter from KF. W. Devon & Co. argues the total paint cost equals paint price plus application cost. It cites N Avery of Delhi and two houses painted with Devoe and adulterated paint, showing double the gallons and double the cost for the latter. Also notes Fehrenkamp and Buendel visits and a Port Arthur report, plus Dickens County land demand for minerals.
An advertisement lauds Backlen’s Arnica Salve as the best remedy for burns sores eczema and piles with a soothing effect and a 25 cent price at drug stores. It also notes the Humble oil well is expected to yield 10 000 to 20 000 barrels daily though the oil is not of the finest grade.
Y R Beall of Beall Miss says his wife recovered from consumption after using Dr Kings New Discovery. He reports immediate improvement after other treatments failed and says four bottles cured her, with trial bottles offered free. Drugstores guarantee the remedy at 50 cents and 1 dollar.

A. B. Devall, Harris County treasurer, writes from Hallettsville Texas on October 26 1901 praising the Texas Wonder remedy for kidney and rheumatism ailments and recommends it to others. Dr E W Hall of St Louis receives the letter.
