Mrs Frank Janda 87 a Shiner resident died Friday August 18 after a short illness. Funeral services were held at St Cyril and Methodius Church Shiner with burial in the Catholic Cemetery. Surviving are four daughters three sons a brother and a sister plus 24 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

The Moulton Chamber of Commerce met in the high school gym Monday night. Minutes were read and approved. A committee including J. H. Vanham, E. A. Oehl and C. C. Orts was formed to discuss appointing a full time deputy sheriff with Sheriff Theo Long after the new year. The board will meet with businessmen Wednesday August 30 at 8:00 PM at the fire station to consider regulating closing hours. A stew supper was announced for Monday September 18.
