Columbus, O August 8 William Stryk of Moulton Texas purchased one registered Jersey Jimmy Bess Volunteer from the herd owned by Herbert Janssen of LaGrange Texas. Jerseys are registered at the national office of The American Jersey Cattle Club in Columbus Ohio. The Club has kept complete records on all registered Jerseys in the United States since 1868. Jerseys are noted for milk that averages more than 5 percent butterfat and they breed calves early. They begin producing milk from three to six months sooner than other dairy breeds aiding faster herd building and earlier milk checks.
Mrs Pauline Grasshoff 80 aunt of Mrs Charles Lucke of Moulton died of a heart attack in San Antonio Monday Funeral services were held Tuesday burial at Mission Park Cemetery The death leaves a family in Moulton and ties to local residents with ties to San Antonio and Mission Park Cemetery.
Dimmitt Perkins of San Antonio demonstrated his jet model airplane at the Schulenburg show and won a medal. His plane circled the field about twenty times at a speed of 132 miles per hour. Perkins is the grandson of Mr and Mrs O F Knape of Moulton and works as a linotype operator at The East office.
The Moulton Chamber of Commerce will hold its regular meeting at the high school gymnasium Monday August 21 at 8 00 PM All members are urged to attend.
Supt. J. W. Pyland of Moulton Public Schools lists high school registration on Saturday September 2 from 9:00 A M to 4:00 P M a general faculty meeting Monday September 4 at 10:00 A M and classes start Tuesday September 5 at 8 45 A M no school Monday September 4
J. W. Pyland is superintendent and M. K. Merrem is high school principal with John Shannon science and other faculty listed. W. L. Young leads vocational agriculture and E. Strandtman math. Mrs. Merle Carey English and Robert W. Taylor leads band. Other announcements will be made next week about buses.
About nine hundred forty two Vocational Agriculture teachers gathered at the State Conference at the Plaza Hotel in San Antonio from August 9 to 11. W L Young, a local teacher, attended the staff conference August 7 and 8 as representative. It marks the largest assembled group of Vocational Agriculture teachers in Texas across multiple agriculture departments.
Edmund Schroeder of Taylor was seriously injured last week Thursday when his pickup struck loose gravel and overturned. He is being treated at Dr. Johns Hospital in Taylor. Schroeder is brother in law to Mr and Mrs Arnold Freytag of Moulton.
Mr and Mrs Edwin Hemmis of Houston announce the birth of a 9 pound boy Kenneth Ray at St Josephs Hospital on Tuesday August 8. He was baptized Sunday August 13 at Holy Name Catholic Church with sponsors Mr and Mrs Fred Berckenhoff.
Lavaca area Boy Scout leaders assembled for the Lavaca District meeting with Mr Hallettsville presiding. Reports highlighted summer activities including Camp Tom Wooten attendance and a National Jamboree contingent. nominations and officer elections followed. Next meeting set for September 12 in Shiner with a district pot luck planned.
The Moulton Legion picnic date is moved from October 1 to October 8 to avoid a clash with the Flatonia Legion Post annual picnic on October 1.

Mrs W L Knape underwent a surgical operation at Dr Johns Hospital in Taylor Friday of last week. She is getting along fine and now rests at her sister Mrs I G Janca’s home in Round Rock.
Monsignor F. X. Wolf age 68, longtime pastor of St Marys Catholic Church Fredericksburg since 1938, died after a stroke during Sunday Mass. A Bavarian native named monsignor by Pope Pius XII in 1947, he previously led St Josephs in Moulton and other nearby churches.

Harold Knape, who fractured a leg four months ago, is recovering well after Brooke Army Hospital discharge. He and Mrs. Knape plan to return to Yoakum in a few days where he serves on the Yoakum Public School teaching staff.
Hallettsville Texas August 9 Rogan Beal a Lavaca county draft board member explained Selective Service Act of 1948. Men are called in age order oldest first and quotas come from Gonzales and Lavaca counties based on population.
Navy Recruiter in Charge Roman E Hanak ENC U S Navy will be in Moulton Texas Friday August 18 1950 from 9 00 AM to 12 noon to discuss vacancies for men ages 17 to 31 meeting mental and physical requirements. Those 19 to 26 with Selective Service notices for pre induction physical cannot enlist.
Three visiting hunters Adolph R. Johnson Galveston A J Rehm Robert A Bahr Alta Loma faced a 2 AM hearing in Justice Shoemake court after being caught by Game Wardens Beezly and Wolfsdorff during an off season midnight foray between Sheridan and Subjinte. They posted $192 total fines for possession of firearms and gear used in the hunt though no game was taken.
Mrs Theodore Barta came home Thursday from Hallettsville after an appendectomy. She is getting along fine.
Southern Pacific introduces the Sun set Limited a 15 car diesel powered streamliner between New Orleans and Los Angeles. The service begins August 20 with a 2070 mile 42 hour schedule each way cutting hours from prior service. Locomotives by General Motors Electro-Motive between LA and Del Rio and by American Locomotive between New Orleans and Del Rio.
