Guadalupe Firemen Set Semiannual Meet in Moulton May 2

The Guadalupe Firemen Association holds its semiannual convention in Moulton on Sunday May 2 with sessions at the New Theater and Herman Park Hall. Attendees will hear speakers including Victor Bouldin in place of Attorney General William Mc Craw, plus entertainment by local talents, an American Legion Band, and delegations from 36 towns.

Inocenc Motal Dies at 72 Near Komensky Praha

Inocenc Motal a respected farmer died at his home Friday April 23 at 9 PM after a month illness. Funeral from the family residence Sunday at 9 AM with services at Praha Catholic Church Rev John Anders. Burial in Praha Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers listed. Survived by widow four children two stepchildren two brothers. The Eagle extends sympathy to the bereaved.

Bridge Club celebrates four tables with festive decor

Mrs. Erwin Oehl hosted four tables of bridge last week at a beautifully decorated home with cut roses. Refreshments included a salad course, coffee, and strawberries in pastry shells. Mrs. Fred Fehrenkamp won high score, Mrs. Wm. Meyer received the gift prize, and Mrs. Anton Kolar captured the galloping prize.

Anton J. Jilek Buried Here After Illness

Anton Jilek died at a Sanitorium Sunday after a several week illness. The body arrived Monday and the funeral was held Tuesday morning from his mother Mrs Frank Jilek Sr home. Rev Joseph Kopp officiated at St Joseph s Church with burial in Moulton Catholic Cemetery. Survivors include his widow Maggie Johnson and eight siblings plus his son Rud Jaek in Levelland Texas and five children Conrad Albert Margaret LaVern Mary Anne. He was born May 24 1889 in Moulton aged 47 years 11 months and 1 day. He lived in Moulton Fredericksburg and Flatonia.

The Czech Catholic Dramatic Club rehearses a Bohemian play for presentation soon under manager Tom V. Tousek. Visitors include Mrs. John Baur of Cuero and Miss Alice Baur of Yorktown, who spent Sunday with Mrs. E. Westerhoff.

Annual Firemen's Dance Held Here

The Molton Fire Department held its annual dance at Herman Park Hall on Wednesday night April 21. The ticket committee reported 294 men and 351 women tickets sold for a total of 647. John Havlik and his orchestra provided modern and old-time music.

Behind the News class play at Sam and Will Moore Institute

The seniors will present Behind the News in the school auditorium on Tuesday May 4 at 8 00 PM under Miss Lydia Koester. Sim Jaeggli Jr won second in junior boys decamation at the regional meet in San Marcos Saturday. The school is giving seventh grade tests English tenth grade test and eleventh grade psychological test at the State Department request and to cooperate with the education coordination committee in Texas.

Old Landmark Falls as New House Rises in Moulton

Fred Pietsch bought the Ed Balhorn property in Moulton and tore down the old Balhorn house to clear the site for a modern home. The traditional residence, a local landmark, was removed last week to make way for construction.

Sub-Deb Club Hosts Bridge Evening At Nickel Home

Sub Deb Club entertained the Bridge Club at the Thompson home in Nickel last Tuesday night. After three fast games a lunch of dewberry cup cakes salmon salad cheese sandwiches olives saltines and coffee was served. Three more games followed with Miss Helen Boehm winning high score Mrs Otto Fisbeck taking the galloping prize and Miss Mildred Knape receiving the cut prize.

Miss Lorena Ruth Smith Visits Parents in Texas

Miss Lorena Ruth Smith, a student at the University of Texas in Austin, spent the weekend with her parents Mr and Mrs F Smith. She was accompanied by her college friend Miss Ann Reilly of Cristobal Canal Zone Panama.

Emil Pundt Dies After Illness in Moulton

Emil Pundt a retired Moulton businessman died Sunday night after an illness of eight months. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Zion's Lutheran Church in German and English, with burial in Moulton Public Cemetery. He was born March 12, 1873, in Ross Prairie, married Anna Koenig in 1899, and moved to Moulton in 1904. He helped run Moulton Oil & Gin, was an honorary Moulton Fire Department member, and survived by his widow, three children, four grandchildren, three brothers, and four sisters.
