Semi-Annual Guadalupe Firemen Convention in Moulton

More than 700 attendees joined the Guadalupe Firemen's Association convention in Moulton on May 2. The program included addresses by O F Knape, Rev J C Felger, and Judge Victor Bouldin, plus music by local bands and a garden-party adjournment with dinner and hospitality praised by all attendees.

The Moulton Volunteer Fire Department expresses sincere appreciation to all who contributed to the Guadalupe Firemen's Association convention in Moulton on May 2. Fire Department Holds Meeting Monday Night

The department held its regular monthly meeting at the American Legion Hall. Minutes were read and approved, bills ordered paid, and reports from dance and convention committees heard and approved. A $110.35 profit from the annual firemen's dance was recorded.

Pioneer Resident D Fisbeck Dies After Brief Illness

D Fisbeck a longtime Lavaca county resident died at his Baursville home Saturday May 1 after a short illness. Funeral services were held Monday at his home and Zion Lutheran Church with Rev A H Falkenberg officiating. Interment was in Moulton Public Cemetery. He was born October 2 1856 in Oldenburg Germany and came to Texas in 1884 later settling in this area in 1892. He married Sophia Mester in 1876 and later Anna Kretschmar in 1920. Surviving are his widow two daughters two sons two stepdaughters 21 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Four children preceded him in death. The Eagle extends sympathy to the bereaved.

Class Play Is Fine Performance At School Auditorium

Seniors of Sam and Will Moore Institute presented Behind the News a three act comedy about a small town newspaper office. Cast included Elmer Scot editor Wesley Knap and Jane Cooper owner of the paper. Miss Koester directed with praise while Mrs Janssen Handsor and Sam Jaeggis Jr offered humorous sketches and the Moulton band performed between acts.

Moulton Girl Honored at Texas University

Lorena Ruth Smith of Moulton, daughter of Mr and Mrs F C Smith, has been appointed to the Newman Hall Advisory Council at the University of Texas Austin for 1938. The honor is given to only five Newman Hall residents each year for scholarship personality and help to new girls. Appointments are made by Sister M Sabina with aid from the current advisory council.

Moulton School Board Elects New Trustees

The Moulton Independent School District swore in newly elected trustees F C Smith and Herbert A Fiedler at last week’s board meeting. Officers for the year named: J B Wilson president, Albert J Puste jovsky vice president, Erwin Obl secretary treasurer.

Death of Dr. C. C. Hein Leads Lutheran Church Obituary

Dr. C. C. Hein, president of the American Lutheran Church, died in Columbus Ohio on Saturday May 1. Burial followed in Columbus on Monday.

New Feed Store Opens Saturday in Moulton

Hugo Giesbers and Carlton Johnson will open a retail and wholesale feed store in the Dr. Guenther building in Moulton on Saturday May 8. Both men were reared here and are energetic young men. Their advertisement appears on page 8 of this issue of The Eagle.

Sunday May 9 is Mother's Day. Visit your mother if possible or write, call, or send flowers. If she has passed, wear a white flower to honor her memory.

San Antonio Chamber Plans May Good Will Tour

The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce sponsors a goodwill tour in late May. The trippers visit Moulton on Wednesday May 26 from 3 05 to 3 35 p m to greet residents and foster business ties.
