Solons Enter Final Month of Texas Legislature
Austin April 12 The legislature entered the last month of the 120 day session with little chance to pass the governors major program. Tax legislation appears dead in senate committees. Horse racing repeal is unlikely to be voted on this month. Appreciation bills linger in committees with possible postponement until new revenues are determined. Governor Allred has not announced a special session but may be asked to convene one if horse racing repeal dies. He says $12 million in new taxes is essential and may trigger a tax session.
