In Tuscumbia Alabama on April 7 sheriff Gassaway and deputy Will Gassaway confronted Will Reynolds at Knardtown. Reynolds opened fire wounding the sheriff and mortally wounding the deputy. A 1000 rounds and 12 guns were used to assault the barricaded house. The negro killed Hugh Jones and Bob Wallace and wounded Jim Finney Jesse Davis. The mob burned three houses and the negro was riddled by fire and killed. The sheriff and his brother reportedly did not die. Prout’s body was recovered after an hour.
A man employed by N Eckert in Galveston last night attacked the Eckert family. He beat Mrs Eckert, ripped a hand, and tried to dash the 2 month old baby. Eckert woke, fought back, and neighbors restrained the assailant who was jailed. Meanwhile wholesale liquor dealers met in Galveston to oppose prohibition.
Boston April 8 A general wage hike of about 10 percent took effect yesterday across nearly all southern New England mill towns except Fall River where the raise was given last month. More than 75 000 workers benefit. Also a Swede invents a brake for boats by extending shutters from hull sides to stop within half its length.
In Amherst county Virginia James Carter who shot Don Thomas near New Glasgow was taken from Amherst jail last night and lynched near the village. About 200 masked men rode into Amherst before midnight and secured the jail keys, then hanged Carter a half mile north of town and fired 35 shots into his body.
Mr John M Stokes of San Antonio in Palestine to install a 25000 dry storage facility for fruit eggs and similar goods. The project will meet a long felt need as capital has partly been subscribed and preparations begin for a building suited to the purpose.

Four bank robbers from Ruskin Nebraska stole 15000 yesterday and were chased by a farmer posse for thirty miles. The bandits crossed into Kansas near Belleville and the pursuit continued with a running chase for miles. Breed hounds followed the trail but lost it near Scandia.
Corpus Christi Texas April 7 Bob Arnold a Portland erops farmer says he has kept his vegetable field free of lice for two years by spraying hot water on infested plants. He claims the method is inexpensive and does not injure the plants.
Marquette Michigan reports a howling blizzard sweeping the region on April 7, leaving streets buried and travel disrupted across the northern part of the state.
A rainind wind storm moved through Nort and Northeastern Texas from 6 to 8 PM. Telegraph and telephone wires were prostrated in Dallas, Marshall, Texarkana and Paris areas. At Grand Isle twelve miles west a number of houses were destroyed with fatalities or casualties reported.
