An explosion at the Nelson Coal and Iron Company mine in Dayton Tennessee follows a blown blast. Two miners are dead. twelve remain trapped with three outside injured. Firemen blamed for firing the blasts. one fuse defective ignited gas and coal dust.

El Paso reports an angry crowd in Chihuahua damaged the arena tearing seats apart and throwing chairs into the ring. Spectators jumped into the pit as fighters escaped through a side exit while police could not stop the disturbance. Receipts were demanded for hospital aid.
Emma Chenoweth a mangle operator at the New Process steam laundry was injured yesterday evening when her hand was caught in the machine. Doctors fear amputation may be necessary for her wrist injury.
In Pike County on Sunday two mass processions formed with over 200 mourners, each man carrying a rifle across his shoulder. One procession mourned the Hatfields Thompson and Ephraim killed in Saturday’s quadruple tragedy, the other for John Rutherford and Harry Watts. St Joseph Missouri March 31 Christian C Nelson admits to being a bigamist after confessing he has married thirteen women. He says he was a bachelor until 56 and blames misfortune and deception for his multiple marriages while defending his conduct. He claims he sought his affinity and would not have become a bigamist if he had found the right wife earlier.
The British steamer Holyrood with Captain Benton from Portland Maine bound for London was sunk after a collision with the Leyland liner Bernard Hall. Twenty eight Holyrood crew boarded Bernard Hall which arrived at Queenstown with its bow stove in. The collision happened in dense fog 175 miles west of Fastnet.
Pretoria report says Acting President Schalkburger failed to contact former president Steyn of the Orange Free State. Both men crossed the main westward railway line and were escorted by Van Niekirk and Van Demetere. They have been traced to Paris near Heilbron road in Orange River Colony by Colonel Garrett.
David Tullis, alleged to be David Thompson and wanted in Scotland for theft, is in Seattle awaiting extradition papers from Houston after a federal telegraphic dispatch alerted authorities. The arrest follows a Houston dispatch.
In Lowell Massachusetts on March 31 the citizens committee failed to stop a strike as weavers cotton spinners and loom fixers voted to return to work this morning ending the labor dispute with the decision to resume production.
Darien Ga March 31 The schooner Sullivan under Captain Darter is ashore off Egg Island. The captain and crew were landed safely.
Madrid reports the treaty of friendship between the United States and Spain will be signed soon after Bellamy Storer, the US minister, returns to Madrid. Storer is presently in the United States. Lake Charles Louisiana March 31 on Ryan street churchgoers encountered a fatal shooting as Tom Smythe, Lake City pool hall writer, was shot and killed by W A Kirkwood of the Swift Kirkwood Company yesterday.
