Austin Texas March 29 The last apportionment of 7 50 per capita or 9 253 440 for the present school year was made when 150 per capita for 1 850 688 was transferred from the general revenue fund to the available school fund There are 1 233 792 scholastics in the state per the department of education records.
L B McGuffin, long time Cuero schools principal, is elected superintendent of Hallettsville schools. He led the six county normal in Cuero last summer and will participate in the Yoakum summer normal this year.
Mrs. Fred Frey and her daughter were thrown from a buggy when a frightened horse ran away in Yoakum Texas on April 2. They were taken to the local hospital for treatment.
At a meeting last Friday night a local American Legion post was organized in Shiner Texas and arrangements were made to secure a charter. The post will be known as the Kolar-Stanik Post in commemoration of two Shiner men who lost their lives in the world war.
In Lockhart Texas the Independent School District vote authorized the issuance of school bonds totaling 200000 dollars for building improvements. The tally was 345 votes in favor and 185 against.
In Flatonia Texas on April 3 the school trustees election results show F A Nesista 69, C A Pearson 71, W Bludworth 71 among the top three, with Mrs E A Arnim 34 and Mrs A Brune matin 33 not elected. The three men were elected.
In an election this week for a commission form of city administration the plan was adopted by a majority of 64 votes. The newly elected commissioners are R. S. Jahn and Ed Orth.
The four year old daughter of A. L. Williams a farmer 11 miles northwest of Paris died yesterday afternoon. A physician said she was poisoned from eating orange peelings.
Washington March 30 Texans in the capital will honor San Jacinto Day with an old fashioned barbecue hosted by the Texas Society Representative Hudspeth will serve as chief cook and preside over the event highlighting Texas heritage in Washington.
Paul F. Appelt and Willie Pohl fished on the Chicolete last week, hauling seven large catfish with the largest at 24 pounds. They also brought home the head and skin of a seven foot alligator they killed there.
Shiner Gazette reports a corner stone ceremony planned for Tuesday April 13 for a new church costing $80,000. Bishop Arthur Crossaerts of San Antonio will preside, with Rev. Father Wolf and many priests assisting.
Philip Keil and Ima Robinson were married at Justice W A Beckham residence on a Tuesday night. Keil is a rural route mail carrier on Route Three and Robinson is the daughter of Jack Robinson of the Colony section, according to the Flaiopia Argus.
W H Turk Jr reports Hallettsville independent school district census results. This year white students total 506 and colored 202, compared with last year’s 468 white and 219 colored, a gain of 38 whites and a loss of 17 colored, net increase 21 students.
A banker farmers conference to promote better agriculture and livestock in Texas will be held at College Station on April 20 and 21. Railroads offer a special round trip fare of one and one half, lodging is free. Authorities urge representative farmers to attend, citing substantial value beyond costs.

The State Board of Education authorized an additional per capita apportionment of one dollar for public schools, bringing the total to eight dollars and fifty cents for the year, the highest in state history. Miss Annie Webb Blanton noted funds may not be available until June, with borrowing powers allowed to keep teachers paid. The aim is to extend school terms that might otherwise close in April.

At the Hallettsville Independent School District trustee election on April 5 four incumbents were re elected: W. H. Bennett Lester Holt S H Simpson and Ford Lacy. Six candidates contested the race.
Very little interest marked the school trustee election in Moulton on Saturday with only 25 votes cast. Incumbents George Baur George von Lienen and Oswald Buescher were re-elected.
State Superintendent Annie Webb Blanton reports Texas ranks 33rd in providing funds for public schools when all sources are counted. Texas holds first in state aid for rural schools and free textbooks but ranks poorly in local and county taxation contributions, with overall spending per capita leading to a 32nd place among states.
In Oak Grove the rain gave way to dry winds as residents report new tin cisterns at farms of Frank John and Frank M. Novak. Easter visits span Charndale Bartlett Nursery and Victoria with relatives. Trustee election results list Liebrugger Re elected and Novak replacing deceased Anderle. Additional social visits include Fisbeck family, Boehm, Billimek, Hister, Heinrich, and Dobesky households in early April 1920.
The Culak school closed a successful session Friday April 2 under the management of Miss Gladyn Skinner of Gonzales.
