Flatonia Route Four Weather and Social Roundup

Fair and windy weather with no rain noted. some farmers have planted corn. A Forty-two party at Mr. and Mrs. John Cooper's Wednesday night drew light attendance due to drizzle. Attendees included Annie Lee Wood Mary Wood Jodie Hull Lizzie Weidel Zat Johnson Willie Walter and Charlie Hull Jimmie Weidel Herman and V. K. Cluiss Clyde Hull and Johnnie Meyer. The Cluiss school closed March 25 with a following day picnic and a fine evening program. Visitors included Mr. and Mrs. EF Blundell of Waelder Dan Leazar and family and several locals enjoyed fishing Sunday. Others visiting were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Tauch of near Flatonia Ernest Kura and family Clyde Watts Sherman Cherry and Anderson of Waelder. Fred Cook of Shiner visited Old Moulton and Nora Grace Wood of Cheapside attended the Friday concert. Annie Lee and Mary Wood returned to Cheapside Saturday after school term close. Alfred Richter of Nickel visited Wednesday night with Claude Parker. George Gabitzsch and wife of Nickel visited Wild Bill Johnson. Date March 27 1920.

Big Catch by Lt Kotzebue on Smugglers at Camp Chigas

On March 22 night Lt Leon I Kotzebue of the 1gth Infantry at Camp Chigas reports capturing 25 gallons of alcohol 153 quarts of tequila and two prisoners after exchanging fire with five Mexicans who crossed the river. He says one assailant died in Mexico and another died this morning. The Jaurez police confirmed the fatalities and the General complimented the haul.

Shiner Fair Dates Set For June Festival

Preparations for the Shiver Fair in Shiver Texas have begun with dates set for June 23 24 25 and 26 Speakers expected include J W Bailey Pat Neff and Congressman J J Mansfield A feature of the fair will be baseball games with several ex league players expected to perform.

Mrs Emil Janszen hosted the Moulton Lutheran Frauen Verein on Thursday March 25. Members spent the afternoon doing fancy work and enjoyed refreshments. The next meeting will be at Mrs Gerhard Mueller on Thursday April 15.

The Moulton Home and School Club will hold a social meeting Friday afternoon April 2 with president Mrs Ed Stude man. The club meets twice a month for business at the school house and social at a member’s home. An urgent invitation is extended to all local ladies to enroll and help improve the school.

Fritz Albrecht Killed by Accident

Prominent farmer Fritz Albrecht of Witting died in an accidental self firearm discharge Sunday while crow hunting. He crawled through a wire fence when the gun went off striking him in the heart. Funeral held at his home with interment in Witting Cemetery. He was 58, survived by wife two sons and one daughter.

Texas Ginned Cotton Bales 1919 Rise Over Prior Year

The census bureau reports 2,927,385 bales ginned in Texas for 1919, up from 2,610,337 bales the previous year. Lavaca and adjacent counties show ginning totals as part of the statewide census data.

Boy Rescues Sisters From Fire In Cuero Texas

Iean Ibrom a 15 year old boy woke to a blaze at his Cuero home and carried his three sisters Kate Susie and Regina to safety. Father mother and eldest son were away. The residence and outbuildings burned, loss listed at 5000 dollars.

School Closes After Successful Session At Old Moulton

The Classs school at Old Moulton closed a very successful session Friday under Miss Annie Lee Wood. A picnic was held in the afternoon then a concert in the evening. A large crowd attended. Miss Wood went home to Cheapside Saturday with her sister Miss Mary Wood, who stayed the week.
