Morris City Council approves October 28 referendum on issuing up to 300000 dollars in general obligation bonds for a new city hall on city land. Meeting notes show 7 to 0 votes with one absence and no location details given.
Morris City Council voted to send a letter to Federal Paper Board stating intent to rescind the 1949 contract that granted perpetual dumping rights at no charge. Health and sanitation Chair Gerald Borens called the agreement outdated as Federal refuses dumping coverage payment. City Attorney David Smith drafted the letter noting possible final edits and said action follows committee review of cost data and discharge regulations.
Village board announces Friday 8 p.m. session to form a six member citizens committee to lobby the AMA for physicians. Dr. Roman Smyk treats 80 to 100 patients daily as the lone Coal City physician. Mrs. Alex Viteri may donate or dispose of her late husband’s office and equipment to the village.
