AP reports Patty Evans a woman who said she was 123 when she died in Miami on Monday. Born on a Jefferson Georgia plantation she moved to Miami with her husband’s death forty years earlier. She claimed to be 43 at age of arrival and had 19 children four of whom survived her. Patsy never drank though she did snuff and puff a cigar. She said she learned to live after stepping over to Jesus.

Illinois Governor OKs Parents Choice on Sex Education
Gov. Ogilvie signed laws allowing parents to opt their children out of sex education after reviewing materials and filing written complaints. The same session approved adoptions subsidies of 60 dollars monthly per child to help place hard to adopt youths, and a commemorative MLK holiday for school services. A law makes parents financially liable for damages caused by under eighteen, capped at 500 dollars, and requires bilingual English Spanish teaching where 10 percent or more students speak Spanish.

Carbon Dioxide Plant Near NPC to Open in 1970
Cardox division of Chemetron Corp breaks ground near Morris for a carbon dioxide production plant. It will source raw material from Northern Petrochemical Co and aims to start up early spring 1970 with initial output around 110 tons daily, rising to 220 tons. The U.S. Secret Service reports eight arrests in a Pittsburgh counterfeiting operation that produced over 500000 in fake twenty dollar bills. The shop printer Kenneth Guekert, 35, and others from Pennsylvania were seized. additional arrests were expected in Chicago.
