Braidwood fire station to be dedicated at 2 p.m.
The new Braidwood Fire Station at Main and School Streets will be dedicated Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. Dennis Mather leads the dedication committee with clergy, school bands, and Girl Scout groups participating. The 100 by 60 foot concrete block building houses eight trucks, radio and meeting rooms, and water rescue gear. The station is owned by the Braidwood Volunteer Fire Fighting Co. Accident knocks down pole cutting power to Morris area

Braceville educator announces resignation from school district
At an open Braceville Grade School meeting Tuesday, Superintendent Ralph Haldorson stated he will leave at the end of the term. Board President Forrest Gray said Haldorson made the decision himself after discussions with the board and noted no contract action would have affected his tenure. Haldorson plans to pursue a doctor of philosophy degree at Northern Illinois University next year and would need to reside there. The board commended his service and gave a high recommendation.

Meat Truck Overturns On I 80 Near Illinois 47
An Iowa trucker, Freddie Potter, 29, of Davenport, sought medical attention after his semi filled with meat rolled onto the median of Interstate 80 near Illinois 47 at 4 40 a m. Potter was eastbound and attempted to pass when the other semi blocked the lane causing the crash. The Lamone Trailer Co vehicle sustained damage but the meat stayed inside. Morris firemen responded to a fire threat. no tickets were issued.

Rainbow Council Moves Scout Offices to Morris Reservation
