Four Boone County Jail escapees nabbed near Joliet
Trooper Veronda spotted a stolen 1963 Pontiac on I 55 near Joliet at 1 30 pm Monday. Illinois State Police captured four escapees from Boone County Jail in Columbia MO within 10 minutes in a fruit stand parking lot on US 30 near Interstate 55. The men, Jerry Acton 19 Ravenna Neb Frank Pospeshill 48 Columbia Mo Carl Robert 18 Centralia Mo and Kenneth Worth 29 Kansas City were taken to Will County Jail held without bonds awaiting arraignment. James K Martin, a Missouri student, offered the men a ride. one man brandished a pistol taken from a deputy.

New three year contract approved by Local 292
The Local 292 union approved a three year contract retroactive to May 20 with Federal Paper Board by a 2 to 1 vote at the VFW Hall.
