The Coal City Village Board unanimously approved a preliminary sanitary sewer and water main plan for Pompano Subdivision and signed the EPA permit application. EPA decision is expected in one to three months. The meeting covered finding a doctor for the late Dr. Viteri, traffic-light legality, and other town issues.
The Morris city council, by 5 to 2, approved annexing 10 acres southwest of Hi Park for a low income housing project. Zoning to R III for multiple family residences and a related ordinance were adopted with stipulations including a 50 unit cap, park land leased to the city, and infrastructure work funded by the Grundy County Housing Authority.
Morris City Council granted final plans for Parklake Village north of George Street and east of Lisbon Road on a 7 0 vote led by Del Linn with construction planned to start in June. The project includes 500 condominium apartments and rezoning actions for a Kroger store and PUD-related land.
Monday night the Gardner Village Board discussed vacating the alley and granting a sewer and water easement to be run through the alley with property owner approval. The board set a public inspection date for a proposed subdivision regulation ordinance and planned newspaper notice.
The Chicago Teachers Union endorsed a strike against the city school system by a narrow margin with 10,391 for and 10,193 against. The move follows plans to close schools 11 days early, reducing the year to 177 days and risking state aid.
