McCord Says Mitchell Approved Watergate Wiretaps and Set Plans

James W. McCord Jr testified under oath that Attorney General John N. Mitchell approved the Watergate wiretapping scheme and urged early action in mid-April 1972. He said Liddy claimed Mitchell received logs of tapped conversations and pushed for a second entry on June 17. McCord described payments of 76000 dollars in cash from Liddy and noted ongoing pressure on witnesses and investigations linked to the Nixon campaign.

MCHS Board Grants Two Week Continuance in Growth Policy Hearing

The Morris Community High School Board of Education approved a two week continuance for Larry Kane former head football coach as the high school hearing on the professional growth policy proceeds. The session in the cafeteria heard from Ted Morgan and Richard Schweighart with Kane present. A deposition from Indiana State University admissions was planned during the extension.

Kane faces hearing over dismissal for growth policy noncompliance

In a two week continuance hearing Kane is accused of failing to meet the districts growth policy, despite extensions and discussions with former superintendents. The district argues Kane refused a reasonable method to enforce the teacher contract and could face dismissal for not pursuing a master’s degree.

Sheep killed by dogs reported in Illinois

Joseph Black of Bungalow Road called the Sheriff's Department at 8 20 p m Thursday to report nine of his sheep were killed by dogs over the past two days. Sgt Ronald Fox advised that a person may kill dogs attacking livestock under state law.

Sam Lebold Dies Aboard Gripsholm On Way Home

Samuel N. Lebold 73 a former vice president of Federal Paper Board and Morris Paper Mills founder’s son died suddenly Wednesday night aboard the Swedish American liner Gripsholm at the Port of Greece. He is survived by wife Eleanor two daughters and a son ten grandchildren and will be buried at Rosehill Chapel in Chicago.

UFO Sighting Over Elk Grove Village Northwest of Chicago

Nine residents and police reported bright pulsating lights hovering over the Ned Brown Forest Preserve in Elk Grove Village Illinois Thursday night. Investigators found nothing and noted no radar or engine noise while Northwestern astronomer J Allen Hynek linked the sightings to Nocturnal Lights as a common unexplained phenomenon.
