Joseph De Moura Jr., a 51 year old truck driver from Chicago, saved five people from a sinking car in a pond near Morrison Iowa on Aug 31 1967. He received the bronze medal citation and 750 dollars from the Carnegie Hero Fund.

US reports heavy losses as Viet Cong spring offensive continues
