Six Die In Crash On Kennedy Expressway Chicago

Six people were killed early today in a collision between a car and a semi on the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago. The Cook County Coroner's Office said bodies were badly burned and IDs destroyed. Firefighters pried the cars apart to remove victims after the fire was put out and traffic rerouted.

Stormy Weather Forecast Through Wednesday With Cooler Temperatures

The Weather Bureau expects stormy conditions to persist in the local area through Wednesday with temperatures cooler but not below normal. Showers and possible severe thunderstorms are forecast for today and tonight around 50 degrees, with intermittent rain continuing into Wednesday. Wheaton Teacher Bound to Jury In Murder Case

Loren Schofield a 27 year old schoolteacher is bound over to a grand jury on murder charges in the death of 11 year old Debbie Fijan whose mutilated body with 18 stab wounds was found in a ditch near West Chicago. Schofield formerly taught Debbie in the fourth grade and was released on $50 000 bond pending the grand jury decision.

General Willard S. Paul Dies at 72

Lt. Gen. Willard S. Paul died Monday at age 72. He directed personnel operations for the U.S. Army in Europe during World War I and retired January 1, 1949. Paul later served as president of Gettysburg College from 1956 to 1961.

Severe wind hail and heavy rain swept across Grundy County on the first day of spring 1966 with light overall damage.
