Bomb Explodes Aboard TWA Jetliner In Las Vegas
An unoccupied Trans World Airlines Boeing 707 exploded at McCarran Airport in Las Vegas as part of a possible extortion plot to obtain 2 million dollars. The blast damaged the forward fuselage but did not injure anyone aboard the plane, which had arrived from New York with 10 passengers and seven crew. Police and FBI investigated while guards checked three other TWA jets. the airport reopened after a 90 minute lockdown.

Banks appeal extension requested in voluntary manslaughter case
The defense filed a motion for another extension until April 11 in the Marion Lee Banks appeal in the appellate court third judicial district. Bruce Stratton, for the Banks appeal via the Illinois Defender Project, notified Grundy County's state’s attorney Tuesday. Banks received a four to 10 year sentence for involuntary manslaughter in his daughter's death last March.

Theft and burglary charges set for grand jury in Coal City case
Dwaine Holt 26 of Wheeling and Miss Josephine Regan 30 of Chicago face burglary and theft after $1 265 was taken from Testa's IGA in Coal City February 18. A Grundy County Grand Jury will review the case Monday. Bail remains 50 000 each, with prosecutors opposing any reduction if indictments follow.

Fire destroys barn and farm equipment near Seneca
A barn one half mile north of Walker's Corner on U S 6 in Nettle Creek Township was consumed by a late Tuesday fire. A rear mount four row cultivator disc plow and other farm gear were lost. The blaze was fanned by high winds. firemen from Seneca and Morris battled flames for at least an hour.
