Fulbright and McGovern offered amendments to a 415 million emergency foreign aid bill as the Senate debated Viet Nam funding and a $6 billion tax bill. Head Start funds allotted for Grundy County project

The Office of Economic Opportunity designates 8226 dollars for Grundy County to start Head Start this summer for underprivileged children. Illinois receives 4,113,001 dollars for Head Start projects, with Grundy County lacking a current committee. Applications may not be submitted by March 31 and a volunteer group formed Feb 9 aims to study anti poverty needs. Communities applying before March 31 could receive funds by May 16.

Kendall County two car crash claims George G. White life

George G. White 28 of Addison died at Morris Hospital after a two car crash on Illinois 47 three miles north of U S 52 in Kendall County. Calvin T. Trotter of Aurora faced a DUI charge after crossing the median and colliding broadside with White who was not belted. The death is being investigated by Kendall County deputies with an inquest planned in Grundy County. White’s body was prepared for funeral services.

The Morris Community High School Board adopted a new percentage based salary pattern for 1966-67, with starting pay for bachelor degree teachers at 5500 rising to 7150 in ten years, and master and higher degree tracks also increased. They budgeted 18500 more for salaries, plus length of service recognition awards and a committee to review stipends. The district calendar was set with Aug 29 start and June 5 close, plus extended Easter break to April 11.
