Edwin C. Grace 33 a uniformed off duty guard opened fire in Heritage House killing six and wounding six others. He was taken to Cherry Hill Hospital after surgery. Police say he reloaded repeatedly and ordered people to flee as witnesses described a chaotic rampage.
The Consolidation Coal Co. of Pittsburgh filed a $125,000 federal suit in Detroit naming Parker Evans and its crew as negligent after the June 5 collision of freighters Sidney E. Smith Jr. and Parker Evans in the St Clair River near Port Huron. The suit seeks condemnation and sale of the Evans to cover the Smith and coal cargo losses, with the Smith lying on its side in 35 feet of water near the Blue Water Bridge.
