The Federal Power Commission approved a $20.7 million expansion by Natural Gas Pipeline Co of America to bolster Midwest gas supply for next winter. Five storage fields in Sayre Oklahoma Cairo and Columbus City Iowa Loudon Fayette County Illinois and Herschel Illinois will be expanded. The project is part of a $267 million 1972 capital program by the Peoples Gas Co subsidiary to serve Chicago and upper Midwest markets.

Clemency sought for parole violator Ethel Nolder

Small plane crashes into Cleveland neighborhood killing pilot
A twin engine Beechcraft crashed after takeoff in a West Side Cleveland neighborhood, setting two houses on fire. The pilot was killed and trapped in the wreckage while residents were unharmed. Hopkins Airport officials said the plane disappeared from radar and showed no distress prior to the crash. Witness Maria Torma described a low flight and a wing break as the plane plunged downward.

Man Held as Incompetent For Northwest Hijack Case
