A public hearing is scheduled for 7 30 p m on July 18 regarding a pre annexation zoning request for Lakewood Estates a 352 acre multi land use development west of Morrison U S 6. The plan includes about 60 acres R III 125 units R I area and commercial zoning plus up to 500 mobile homes. Atty James Peacock and others presented data from a pamphlet on mobile homes and a protest letter from the Morris Education Association. No opposition was raised for Green Acres subdivision rezoning.

Two youths killed in Dwight crash near railway crossing
A 1966 Buick carrying three Chicago area youths struck a G M and O Railroad crossing signal near Dwight on U S 66. Driver Eugene V. Greco 19 Palos Hills and passenger Thomas J. Reschke 17 Chicago died at the scene. Sandra L. Tracy 19 Evergreen Park was injured but listed in good condition after being thrown from the car. The trio was returning from a roller skating meet in Granite City and employed at an Oak Lawn rink. An inquest will be scheduled later.

Carpenters join masons in stoppage in Chicago area
About 30 000 carpenters in three counties joined striking cement masons in work stoppages and selective picketing. George West Jr president said carpenters will picket sites run by five employers associations in Cook DuPage and Lake counties.
