Coal City Man Hurt After Truck Hits Train at Crossing
Coal City resident William Mathews, 52, was treated and released from St. Joseph Hospital Joliet after his pickup collided with a Gulf, Mobile and Ohio train at Fifth Ave. and Valerio Rd. in Eileen. The crash occurred around 7 20 p m when Mathews did not see the eastbound train. the train dragged the truck about 25 yards.

Morris pilot killed in Indiana crash
A Morris man, Ronald Archer, 34, was killed at 8:35 a.m. today when a light plane he piloted for ARCO crashed near Corunna in northern Indiana while scouting for pipeline leaks. He lived at 735 Armstrong St. The accident occurred about 50 miles north of Fort Wayne.
