Minooka begins its Homecoming celebration with activities starting at 6 p.m. today. The event marks the start of a community gathering featuring school groups, alumni, and local residents in festive activities.
Gov Daniel Walker remained in good condition at Highland Park Hospital after surgeons removed his gall bladder and appendix. The operation was performed by Dr Vernon Hutchins under the supervision of Dr Jules Last. The governor had arrived from Providence Rhode Island where his son Charles graduated from Brown University. Drago Carnival Opens at Minooka Lions Park with events through Sunday including a Homecoming Dance and a Spirit Of 76 parade.

Morris Grade School District 54 plans no negotiations until September after the board's 6.4 percent offer was rejected.
