Thefts From Bower Home Sales Garage Reported
Theft from a garage at Bower Home Sales Illinois 47 south of Morris occurred after 9 p.m. Thursday with items valued over 1000 dollars stolen. Sgt. Ray Odom noted entry through an east door, with the overhead doors opened to remove a mower dryer shingles paint and related items.

Illinois Announces Record $543 Million Road Plan for 1977
The Illinois Department of Transportation details a $543 million fiscal 1977 road program the largest in the nation. About 660 miles of highways will be built widened or resurfaced with $245.9 million federal funding and $168.2 million state funds plus local contributions. The plan includes bridge upgrades 57 bridges under a federally assisted program and local traffic improvements distributing $84 million by formula to communities.

Fire gutted Channahon home after blast sighting
An early Sunday fire gutted the two story residence of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fredricks at 106 Buell St Channahon. Neighbors reported hearing an explosion five minutes before flames appeared and a car speeding from the scene. Firemen and state fire marshal investigated the blast. 10 units and 30 to 40 firefighters fought the blaze until 6 am. One firefighter was injured by a nail but treated and released. Estimated damage ranges from 8 000 to 10 000 dollars. The owners were away visiting Mississippi when it occurred.

Arrest man near Kankakee for murder
Kankakee County sheriff's deputies arrested Michael Shannon 21 of Chicago on a murder warrant. He was taken into custody outside the city after an auto pursuit. Chicago homicide detectives linked him to the April murder of Alver Guidry at a West Lake Street tavern.

Truck overturns injuring 2 on I 80 exit ramp Illinois
Two Rhode Island residents were injured when a semi overturned on the eastbound I 80 exit ramp at Illinois 47 at 6 10 am Sunday. Gisele Cronin 38 of Kingston was in fair condition at Silver Cross Joliet. Driver Joseph Cronin 28 of Kingston was treated and released at Morris Hospital. Damage to the semi was $10 000. The Peter Built owned by Curtis Inc of Omaha was moved from the scene. A second injury occurred when Joanne Denny 22 of Elmhurst injured in a one car crash on I 55 at Gardner Rd. She was in fair condition and to be moved to Memorial Hospital of DuPage.
