The Grundy County Sheriff's Department received a report at 3 04 p m Sunday from a citizen band radio operator that the gate at the Tabler Road crossing of the Rock Island Railroad tracks had been broken off The sheriff s department notified the railroad of the broken gate.
Glenn E. Nelson aged 50 of Inglewood California died this morning. He was the son of G. P. Nelson of 122 E Main St. Arrangements are pending with Davis Funeral Home.
Grundy County conservation officer Dan Hill ticketed Tommy Self aged 24 and Robert Koesling aged 20 for placing a vehicle on the north side of Dresden Locks at 1 a.m. Monday. They posted a $30 bond and are slated to appear in court on June 23.
Deputies investigated multiple incidents over the weekend including the theft of a portable beer cooler from a shed on Pine Bluff Road between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. A mailbox and yard damaged on Tabler Road, a scarecrow torn from Rod and Gun Club Road, vandalism to a 1975 Vega on Ridge Road, and a car window break on Minooka with a passenger side window missing. The car was later towed and the owner possibly Phillip Mehochko of Mazon.
Coal City police ticketed two drivers during the weekend. Roy Anderson, 50, of 555 Ivanhoe Rd Wauconda, was cited for illegal transportation of liquor on S Broadway St at 10 40 p m Sunday. Ralph Vanderhyden, 19, of Route 5, was ticketed at 10 p m Saturday for going too fast for conditions at Broadway and Oak Sts. He posted his license as bond and was scheduled to appear in court June 17.
In Joliet Illinois cattle sales totaled about 4300 with steers and heifers up to 50 higher. High choice and prime steers traded 40.00 to 41.50 with some at 36.50. heifers 40.00 to 41.50 and select up to 42.00. Hog prices rose 25 to 75 cents with various lots quoted from 47.50 to 51.00 per hundredweight depending on weight and grade.
Chicago reports at eleven, wheat sharply higher, corn and soybeans up solidly. Wheat futures lead with large gains, corn and beans show mixed but positive moves across nearby contracts. Local reference to specific months and price levels indicates a bullish midday trading session.
Harold Faubel of Pompano Beach Florida was arrested in Peoria on a Grundy County reckless driving complaint filed April 29. James Spence Jr. accused Faubel of driving a chartered bus east of Morris to stop a pass, forcing Spence off the road. Bond of 100 dollars posted. Faubel to appear in court June 24. Arrested Tuesday by Peoria County Sheriff Sgt. D Thomas.
Raymond Housman 29 of Cermak Rd Braidwood was charged with resisting a police officer after a Sunday night fight with his wife at Hill's Tavern Coal City. He refused to cooperate with Officer White and was jailed then released on bond awaiting June 17 court. His wife was treated and released at Morris Hospital.
