Knott Indicted in Fiester Murder Case
Kendall County Grand Jury indicted Thomas Edward Knott of Aurora on a June 13 1972 murder charge in the beating death of Oswego Township resident James L. Fiester. Fiester was found dead in his Wolf s Crossing Harvey Road home living room.

Yorkville council creates utilities post and ponders street plans
The Yorkville City Council formed a general superintendent of utilities position to be filled by James Price with Ralph E. Pfister and Fred O. Christian named to water sewer and street supervision. They also approved parking rules on River Street, three way stop signs at Church and River, and consider widening River Street. Chicago expressways and the Tri State Tollway undergo trenching and lane closures this week. Dan Ryan southbound lane between 7th and 9th streets closed 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. Tri State Tollway shows two of three lanes closed in each direction 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. through today.

Fires destroy garage and home in Channahon incidents
Two Channahon volunteer firefighters sustained minor arm burns while battling a garage fire on Canal Road near Interstate 55. The garage owned by Charles Dixon and part of his house were damaged, with the blaze estimated at $3,000. Shortly after, a vacant house on Bridge Street, owned by Jewel Morris, burned to total loss. arson was suspected and under investigation.

Coal City Cyclist Involved In Route 55 Crash
Dean H. Veronda, 20, of Coal City, was listed in fair condition at St. Joseph Hospital Joliet after his motorcycle left west Frontage Road near Interstate 55 at 3 40 p m. Police say he apparently fell asleep on the curve, struck a guard rail opening, and rolled into a ditch. He was taken to the hospital by Tri County Ambulance.
