Grand jury hears charges against 12 suspects

The Grundy County Grand Jury met to hear indictments against 12 men on charges from marijuana possession to indecent liberties with a child. Suspects include Harold Coleman 21 Myron Coleman 18 Basil Gwilt 18, linked to a June 26 armed robbery and a June 27 burglary.

Waterhouse injured in DeKalb two car crash

Richard F. Waterhouse 38, pupil and personnel director at Morris Community High School, was treated at Sycamore Municipal Hospital after a two car collision at Old State Road and Annie Glidden Road in DeKalb. Matlock of 716 Annie Glidden Road DeKalb was cited for failing to yield at a stop sign.

Minooka School Board authorizes warrants for education funds

The Minooka High School Board approves issuing tax anticipation warrants of 150000 dollars each for education and building funds due to late tax distributions from 1971 and 1972. The board also pursues a counter-suit against Cunning Construction Co. for unfinished contract work and outlines several repair and expansion projects at the campus.

Woman Injured in Crash Reported Near Chapin Street Intersection

Mrs. Beverly Crouch, 23, of 313 East Jackson Street, sustained a possible neck injury after being rear-ended by Darrell Borneman of Route 3 Yorkville at 5 20 p m Saturday on Division Street near Chapin Street. Borneman cited for failing to slow, posted license bond, court July 30.

Third county jail prisoner injured in fall at Grundy jail

A Grundy County prisoner Michael Fancher twenty of Joliet is listed in fair condition at Morris Hospital after a fall down stairs in the county jail at 7 52 p m Friday. Deputy Neary and radio operator Ashbaugh found him at the bottom of the stairs and he was treated for a 14 inch cut Below his right eye and neck stiffness.

Coal City School Board Rejects Athletic Field Bids

The Community Unit No. 1 Board rejected the second set of athletic field bids totaling 107 895 from Morris firm Charles O’Brien and Sons and 89 650 from Coal City contractor D Koerner. The panel then authorized new bids for phase one work including stripping landfill and tile work.
