POWs to begin returning from Hanoi next week
Defense Secretary Melvin Laird announced that the first U.S. prisoners of war from Hanoi will start returning within a week under Project Homecoming. More than 100 POWs are expected home within two weeks, with medical checks at Clark Air Base before transfers to U.S. hospitals, as 591 Americans remained captive in Southeast Asia. Three Injured In One Car Crash Near Morris
Miss Nancy Lou McCabe 23 of 110 Chapin St James Gary of the same address and Mrs Dorothy Findlay of Brook walter Woods were listed in fair condition at Morris Hospital after a one car accident at 11 p m Thursday. Deputy report says McCabe lost control on Braceville Rd one mile west of Broadway St with 100 feet skid marks through a ditch. Car rested in a ditch facing west on the Braceville Rd north side. Gary suffered a forehead laceration Findlay a fractured left arm and McCabe was checked at the hospital. Deputies Olson and Ehrman cited McCabe for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and she will appear in court Feb 13. Wise s service station Gardner towed the damaged car away.
