Fifth shooting victim dies at Hinsdale hospital

John H. Wilson 48 of North Aurora died Tuesday night from two head wounds suffered in the Pine Village Steak House murders and robbery near Yorkville. Kendall County Atty. Dallas Ingemunson said more murder charges likely against Carl Reimann 31 of Sandwich and Betty Piche 30 of Somonauk, held without bail on four counts of murder plus armed robbery and theft.

Rutherford named conservation advisory council chair

Winter storm snarls hit western states with ice and snow

Snow sleet and freezing rain slicked highways across the western nation as arctic air moved in. Ice storm warnings covered eastern Kansas and northwestern Missouri with travel advisories in Illinois and Wisconsin. Snow fell in Omaha and Reno, while Idaho faced flooding threats from past ice jams. A Grand Teton Peak ascent failed amid 40 to 50 mph winds. Temperatures ranged from 17 in Gunnison to 77 in Palm Beach with widespread cloudy skies and scattered showers along coasts.

Weather outlook with rain and sleet possible travel hazards

Snow and rain mix with hazardous travel conditions developing this afternoon. Highs in the mid 30s and a near 33 degree low tonight. Thursday stays cloudy with occasional rain and mid 30s. Tuesday peaked at 34 with 18 low at Dresden Island. 7 am 26 in Morris and 10:45 am 38 downtown.

Three injured in Interstate 80 overpass wreck

Three members of a Wilmington family were hurt in a two car collision at 5 30 p m Tuesday on the Interstate 80 overpass at Gore Road Kathleen R Brown 26 of Route 1 Wilmington drove north in the overpass outside lane when she cut in front of Mrs Larry Phyllis Strange 34 of Route 2 as Strange turned left onto Gore Road Brown was taken to Morris Hospital then to Silver Cross Joliet and described as in fairly good condition Her brother Ronnie L Brown 32 and sister Janet L Brown 28 of Route 1 Wilmington were treated at Morris and released Strange suffered bumps to both legs and her car a 1969 Chevrolet sustained front end damage Miss Kathleen Brown faces a ticket for improper lane usage

Morris Planning Commission Meets in First National Bank

The Morris Planning Commission opened its 1973 session Tuesday night at the First National Bank with members Austin Bollen Richard Bauer Arthur Hornsby Jr James Crupi Dennis Hackett and Mrs Angie Patti in attendance. Absent were Robert Gilbertson and Clyde Baker. No business was transacted.

Medicare premiums rise 50 cents monthly for seniors

Washington AP reports Medicare supplemental insurance will cost $6.30 per month starting July 1 for about 22.5 million elderly Americans. The increase, attributed to higher hospital outpatient costs and physician services, follows last year’s 20 cent rise. New law expands coverage to 1.7 million disabled under 65 and chronic kidney disease patients.
