A jumbo jetliner from Madrid with 223 aboard was diverted from Kennedy to Denver after a telephone bomb threat. A TWA spokesman called the call an extortion threat and said it appeared to be a hoax. Viet Nam bombs Hanoi in mass strikes report
North Viet Nam said in a preliminary survey 1,318 people were killed and 1,261 wounded by U S bombing raids on Hanoi last month. Barges Block Illinois River Near Stratton Park
At 5:55 a.m. police observed three barges lashed side by side loose on the Illinois River near Stratton Park. They were lodged sideways, blocking the channel with ends against both banks. Two light poles at the Stratton Park launching ramp were damaged. The tug Arrow removed the barges and tied them up on the west side of the bridge.
