Sgt. Jack Kopczick age 34 holds four law enforcement courses from Joliet Junior College and attended jet engine school. He served 3.5 years in the U S Navy and lives with wife Eleanor and children Jackie Ronnie and Naomi at 119 Buchanan St. Kopczick, a former Federal Paper Board employee, joined the police department full time on June 1 1966 after a part time post in October 1964.
A Morris area woman Edna Schulz burned her hands while thawing a frozen oil line for a heater. Oil ignited at her Pine Bluff Road residence Sunday as the Morris Fire Department arrived to find the blaze nearly out. minor damage reported. Two young women assisted but were not identified.

Circuit Judge Leonard Hoff man set bond at 20000 for Jody Adrian Flippin and wife Patricia after their alleged accomplice Donald Mack Flippin failed to appear for trial. Morris City police investigate vandals who threw smoke bombs into three downtown sites Saturday afternoon. The Times Building hallway at 316 Liberty Street, Grundy County National Bank entrance at 201 Liberty Street, and Farm Bureau hallway at 116 East Washington Street were damaged. Fire Chief Earl Johnson said one smoke bomb was recovered at the Farm Bureau.
A Saratoga Township fire destroyed a 20 by 30 foot tool shed and a 1969 Ford pickup truck along with an air compressor heater two drags and tools. Alden Thompson's son estimated the loss pending insurance coverage. Miss Becky Thompson 14 reported the blaze to Morris Fire Department around 2 p.m. causing efforts to stop it from reaching a grain crib on Lisbon Road. The cause remains undetermined.
A mobile home fire in Eileen destroyed a 12 by 57 foot trailer, leaving Frank Lestina his wife and three children homeless. Firefighters battled the blaze about an hour while one firefighter suffered frostbite and another burns after furnace and water heater area ignition. The family, insured, is staying with relatives in Coal City.
The Morris Planning Commission meets Wednesday at 7 30 p m to hear zoning for three acres north of Romines Station at Illinois 47 and Interstate 80. A tentative 40 room hotel site is on the agenda along with a progress report by Gerwin Rohrbach of General Planning and Resource Planning on zoning mobile homes. The December City Council approved annexation requested by Atty Eugene Hayes for owners Mr and Mrs William Brown and Mr and Mrs Thomas Brown. Storage by Standard Oil Co. is part of the site context.
The Morris District 54 Board of Education will convene at Shabbona School at 6 30 p m Wednesday to discuss hiring an interim superintendent. President James Peterson changed the start time from 7 30 p m to 6 30 p m and the meeting will address board teacher curriculum matters.
