Coal City Board Rejects Rail Crossing Help Plan
The Coal City Village Board told a Santa Fe Railroad representative it will not share a 2500 expense to raise four crossings during resurfacing. Mayor Joseph Phillips cited the railroad’s longtime maintenance of crossings and a desire to avoid setting a precedent. The board also approved a 41430 general tax levy for May 1973 to April 1974, hired Blocker Brothers of Morris to start sewer cleaning at 300 a day, and approved a 225 tap bill for Buzz Livsey's water connection with Livsey to be billed the extra.
