Eleven year old Catherine A Enger of 403 E Main St remained in Morris Hospital after a bicycle truck collision on Division and Main Streets. A hospital spokesman called her condition fairly good.
Today remains sunny and hot with humidity as high as the upper 90s and a warm humid night with a low in the upper 70s. Tuesday is expected sunny and hot with temperatures near the mid to upper 90s. Weekend highs at Dresden Island Locks and Dam reached 87 Saturday and 96 Sunday with lows around 67 to 68. Morning readings showed 71 at 7 am and 84 in downtown Morris at 10 am.
Richard Muhr 15 of Shady Oaks was treated and released from Morris Hospital after a Sunday 3 p.m. collision on Shady Oaks Dr. A car pulled from the Shady Oaks trailer court, Muhr lost control, was thrown over the handlebars, and sustained back abrasions and a wrist pain. His mother transported him to the hospital.
Grundy County sheriff's deputies probe a suspected arson after a corn crib on Ray Robinsky's farm five miles south of Scully Road on Fillman Road burned completely. Firefighters found an empty fuel container. several suspicious vehicles were reported nearby.
Mrs. Ayoko Kajikawa a 54 year old of Chicago died Friday when the car she rode in overturned on Interstate 55 one mile north of Gardner in Maine Township at 4 15 p m. The left front tie rod apparently broke causing driver Frank Kajikawa 47 to lose control. The car struck a guard rail and rolled along the shoulder. Coroner James Reeves said a jury for an inquest is impaneled with date to be set. Frank and his two daughters Laurie 15 and Karen 17 were treated and released from St Joseph Hospital Joliet.
Thousands of gallons of heavy No. 5 fuel oil spilled from Morris Community High School into the sewer, risking shutdown of the city’s $1 million secondary treatment plant. Operators battle contamination in two 1-million gallon vats. oil may kill bacteria, not the gear.

Georgiana Kiefling of Trend Street Braidwood struck a telephone pole on Fulton Street during a driving test. Examiner William Wallin allegedly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake as the car entered an alley. The pole sustained no damage but a 1967 Chrysler owned by her father was dented.
