Accident victims suffer multiple injuries in Kendall County crash
Steven Yingling twenty three of Sandwich remained in very critical condition at Loyola Medical Center after a two vehicle crash at 7 20 a m Tuesday at Rogers and County Line Roads in Kendall County. His brother Douglas Yingling twenty also of Sandwich was listed in good condition at Sandwich Hospital. Lois Mekley thirty two of Spring Valley was in poor condition at People's Hospital in Peru. Mekley drove a 1976 Ford van for Purolator Courier Corp. Yingling drove a 1971 Chevrolet Camaro which was destroyed by fire. All three were taken to Sandwich Hospital by the Sandwich Fire Department before transfer to Loyola and People's Hospitals. No tickets issued yet.

Chicago sniper wounds minister near Conrad Hilton Hotel
Police hunted a sniper who fired a .22 rifle five times from Grant Park near the Conrad Hilton in downtown Chicago injuring Pentecostal minister Rev. Andrew Cross of San Diego and elevator starter William Charnota of Chicago. Cross was treated and listed in satisfactory condition. The gunman fled by car after a late Tuesday night attack that also damaged a car and prompted a park and air search.
