PAGE Corps criticized for waste plans
Nancy Flowers of the Lake Michigan Federation criticized the Army Corps of Engineers for wastewater treatment plans in the Chicago South End of Lake Michigan. She said public opposition grew to two land filter options in Illinois and Indiana, and that the corps rushed feasibility studies and alienated landowners. Col. Richard M. Wells defended public input, noting rural reactions shaped the process as hearings drew few attendees.
