Minooka church restores 1865 bell with new tower
The Minooka United Methodist Church re hung its 1865 bell in a new tower after four years of silence. The bell, salvaged from the 1866 church, was re hung by July 4 with a rededication following morning services. The tower memorial honors Alma Bell Bauer and will be brick finished with a bulletin board.

Roger Aldridge 30 is in Adams County Jail on 200000 bond for the slaying of Stanley Goodside 32 who had lived with Aldridge and his estranged wife. He also faces a drug possession charge. A preliminary hearing set bond at 100000 for murder and 100000 for drugs. The torso of Goodside was found in Sullivan Illinois last April with the head hands and feet later located in a landfill.

President Ford signed legislation extending the national housing program through fiscal 1977. The bill adds 850 million dollars for rental subsidies and lowers loan rates from 9 to 7.5 percent for elderly and handicapped housing. It also funds rehabilitation loans, mortgage relief for delinquent homeowners, and additional loans for elderly housing. Public housing operating subsidies receive 576 million and a comprehensive planning grant gets 100 million.
