City police debut new breathalyzer training for sergeants

Sergeants Max Babcock and Jack Kopczick demonstrated the department's new breathalyzer. They completed a 40‑hour Illinois Benedictine College course, passed 50 tests, and earned certificates from the University of Illinois. Inmate Stabbing at Stateville Penitentiary

At Stateville Prison in Joliet Illinois an inmate aged 26 Tyrone Harris killed Irving Daniels 29 and another inmate Richard Walton 25 was wounded in a knife fight in the officers dining room Harris was in protective custody after the incident. Daniels had five and six year concurrent terms for armed robbery and aggravated battery Walton had a three year term for robbery.

Minor files $1 million suit over bat strike in Grundy Ct

Robert Marsaglia and his mother sue Joel Micetich, both minors, for $1 million in Grundy County Circuit Court. Marsaglia, with lawyers August and George Black, alleges Micetich struck him with a plastic whiffle bat at 115 West Willow Street during a July 12, 1972 incident, breaking his eyeglasses and causing eye and facial injuries. Marsaglia seeks $500,000 in damages on two counts.
