Grundy County Special Education Board Chooses Local Director

The Grundy County Special Education Cooperative Governing Board met at Franklin School with Randall Highsmith presiding. They debated hiring a new director and retaining the current structure versus joining the LaSalle County Cooperative under an umbrella plan. The board voted to hire a director and stay with the cooperative, citing concerns over control and transportation in joining LaSalle. Steve Tilton of the state office of public instruction attended.

Parklake Village PUD approval questioned by Morris officials

Republicans win Morris city posts in April 1973 election

Morris Illinois voters chose Republican officials in a mayoral race and several alderman and clerk positions. Key results: Morris Mayor win for Donald Caisley Sr. with 1,532 votes. Marjorie Warren elected city clerk with 1,536 votes. Robert W. White re-elected treasurer with 1,503 votes. Ward results reflect broad Republican gains, with names including Elmo Ray Younger, John Maunder, Donald E. Barkley, Robert Gilbertson, and Glenn Hutchings. Minooka village election saw Clyde R. Heap elected president unopposed with 173 votes.

Morris Township Plans Cemetery Road Overhaul and Budgets

Morris Township officials led by supervisor Robert Drake plan a major Cemetery Road renovation funded by $9,100 in federal revenue sharing plus township revenues. The 1.25 mile road span extends from the Illinois- Michigan Canal area to the Aux Sable boundary near Channahon State Boy's Camp. The 1973-74 town budget allocates $15,340 total for the town fund, with $8,260 for town officers and $2,400 for elections. general assistance shows $10,500 total with $9,000 for home relief.
