Housing easement plan delays Grundy County trustees mood

Housing Authority Cuts 50-Unit Plan to 38 Units for HUD
The Grundy County Housing Authority unanimously accepted HUD guidance to reduce the low income family units from 50 to 38 after American Testing and Engineering found old mine tunnels under three sites. The authority authorized Chairman James Stine to contract with National Homes for a $992,218 project once HUD funds are approved, down from $1,123,454.

Pre-trial motions in Yorkville mass murder case advance
In Winnebago County Court Judge Carl Swanson denied a defense motion to dismiss Betty Piche 30 Somonauk and Carl Reimann 31 Sandwich charges. Motions to continue trial and to consolidate are pending as Dallas Ingemundson expects pre-trial rulings tomorrow. Trial moved from Kendall to Winnebago with a new date of April 16.

Car veers into house injures two and damages shop
James E F Hougas 40 of 07 E Washington St was treated in fair condition at Morris Hospital after his 1965 Chevrolet station wagon struck the southwest corner of Lester Thorsen s house at 704 BE Main St. The accident occurred at 7 48 p m Friday. Hougas was cited for driving too fast for conditions and faces court on April 23. A separate hit and run damaged Samuel E Buster s 1972 Valiant on Price St. near 706 S Washington St. Investigators traced paint from Hougas s car to the other vehicle. no ticket issued yet.
