Hog Profits Best Bet For 1962 Farm Outlook Says

Farm Economist Francis Kutish of Iowa State University reports hogs remain the most profitable 1962 prospect. He notes a moderate rise in hog production, with a 2 percent fall sowing increase in the 10 top states this fall and a 4 percent rise for December through February. Slaughter may edge up next spring and summer while prices stay near this year’s levels. Western Cornbelt gains in production are tied to the Feed Grain program, while Eastern Cornbelt prices may rise with feed balance. Cornacre conditions and CCC sales contribute to price dynamics, with even year patterns noted.
