Proctor Named Specialist Five In Vietnam Army Unit
Larry W. Proctor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Proctor of Unionville Iowa, was promoted to Army Specialist Five while serving with the 6th Engineer Battalion near Long Binh, Vietnam. The 22 year old entered the Army in March 1969, trained at Fort Bliss, is a Moravia High School graduate, and attended Centerville Community College.

New Pastor Named for Pleasant Valley Baptist Church
Darel Maryer assumed duties as minister of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church north of Unionville on November 1. He previously led at Sioux City and served in Omaha as assistant pastor and youth director. He holds a BA from Grace Bible Institute and pursued graduate work at Grace Seminary. A parsonage trailer was moved onto the churchyard this week.

In Monroe County voters re-elected Supervisor Carl Evans and candidate Kyl amid a light turnout. Robert Fulton edged Robert Ray by 40 votes, 1390 to 1350, with Kenneth Owen defeating L. B. Liddy 1447 to 1179. State Treasurer race close as Baringer filed 1259 to Palmer 1258.
