Ladies Of W S C S Meet At Iconium For Week Of Prayer
Thursday afternoon October 25 saw twenty ladies from the Methodist Woman's Society of Christian service visit the Iconium Woman's Society for their annual week of prayer and self denial meeting. Mrs Emily Thompson opened the program with a piano prelude and presided at the piano during the song service. Mrs Edward McCord welcomed the group and Mrs Elbert Moore led devotions with the theme Be Ye There for Perfect. Representatives from Good Will Industries of Des Moines spoke about their workshop employing 81 handicapped workers with a weekly payroll around 2500 dollars and five retail stores funding wages. They urged sending discardable but repairable furniture and appliances to the workshop so the workers can earn a living and remain self supporting. Afterward guests enjoyed refreshments of homemade cookies mints nuts coffee and punch served in the dining room beneath fall floral arrangements and twin candleholders.
