Watch For Coccidiosis In Warm Weather
Warning from W R Whitfield extension poultryman at Iowa State College on coccidiosis in flocks during warm days. Control through chick management by stirring litter and adding fresh material using crushed corncobs. Small warm moist patches around waterers can immunize chicks slowly, but large warm damp areas risk severe infection with signs like drowsiness and bloody droppings. Quick epsom salt mix and soluble sulfa compounds are advised with careful use. Move feeders and waterers when outdoors.
